Description

The book reviews the biggest changes in the Grand Prix series over the decades. The main part is the drivers. They talk about the development of the sport and what drew drivers to risk their lives on the dangerous street tracks of the past decades. Numerous world stars of track motorcycling also tell what has been the secret of their success.

Central to the book is the Finnish perspective. The history of the sport's World Championship is described from the inside. Many colorful Finnish events are coming to the public for the first time. There are domestic drivers starting with Jarno Saarisen, and there have also been Finns in key technical positions in the GP series and as background people in various roles.

In the history of the Grand Prix series of track motorcycling, there have been a few significant periods for Finns. Finland was the organizer of GP competitions in 1962-1982. Finland's top season in the top series of track motorcycling was in the early 1970s. At that time, our drivers were the absolute top of the sport, and RR was internationally the number one sport in Finnish motorsport. Another strong period for Finns came in the 2000s, when the Finnish team rose to a significant position in the Grand Prix series. Also on the driver's side, the blue cross flag went up several times to celebrate the victory.
