When the heather is shining brightly in the spring-winter weather, farmers are already thinking hard about the coming summer. They have to decide well in advance which plants will be grown in which field.

The book follows the activities of the farm from spring to winter onwards. Machines play a major role in the text and illustrations. The machines are used for transportation, spring work, threshing, potato picking, fall cultivation and many other farm jobs. In addition, the machines are serviced and refurbished. Farm animals also appear in the book.
